PJ spoke of the Clearwater Bombers as being the Yankees of fastpitch. That reference was mostly to the bombers of the ’50s who were ten time World Champions (Back then the ASA World tournament included Canada and Mexico). I cut my teeth batting against Hall of Fame Pitchers Herb Dudley and John Hunter and I have been hooked on fastpitch ever since.

Jim-I think the Bombers of the 60s with Weldon Haney & Eddie King won a few championships too.

Eric, right you are.
The Clearwater Bombers were the ASA National champions 10 times, with 5 of those coming in the 1960’s. Haney was the MVP in three of those. (The Bombers were runner-ups in a number of the “off” years)
Too bad fans didn’t get to see them play the 10 time ISC World Champion Long Beach Nitehawks.
