NC State Softball Garners First-ever Top-25 Finish Wolfpack listed at No. 19 in the final polls
RALEIGH, N.C. — After advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in program history, the NC State softball team is ranked No. 19 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and USA Softball/ESPN.com Top-25 Final Polls to secure the program’s first top-25 finish.
The Wolfpack cruised through the NCAA Harrisonburg (Va.) Regional with a perfect 3-0 record, highlighted by a pair of wins against Fordham and a victory against host and previously 17th-ranked James Madison, to earn a berth in the NCAA Eugene (Ore.) Super Regional.
NC State finished its record-breaking 2015 campaign with a 38-22 record, the most wins for the Pack in head coach Shawn Rychcik’s three-year tenure and most for the program since 2007.
The 2015 squad broke school records for most runs scored (320), most runs batted in (293), most walks (227), highest on-base percentage (.367) and second-most home runs in a single season (75).
NC State became the first NCAA Division I softball program from the state of North Carolina to make an appearance in the super regionals.
