We are pleased to share the news that Lance Winn, longtime member of the Ballpark Broadcasting team has been tabbed for play-by-play duties for the Canadian Women’s Softball team for their games at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. We are excited for Lance, who has been on of the leading fastpitch softball broadcasters for the past 15 years, since debuting at the 2006 ISC II Tournament of Champions in Kitchener, Ontario Canada. Winn will broadcast Canada’s games from remote in a studio in Toronto, Canada. Additional information will be posted on how to watch the games
During his 15 years with Ballpark Broadcasting, Winn has broadcast numerous WBSC World Championships, travelling to Whitehorse Yukon (2014), Saskatoon SK (2015), Midland MI (2017), back to Whitehorse (2017), Prince Albert (2018), Prague, CZE (2019), Shanghai China (2019), New Zealand (2019), and Irvine CA (2019). Irvine marked the first time broadcasting women’s softball, at the U19 World Championship. Winn also broadcast countless games for the ISC at its annual World Tournament events.
A former CIS Varsity Basketball player at York University and Assistant Coach with the University of Ottawa men’s program, Lance has played a number of sports at a high level including fastball as a member of the 2001 NAFA AA Champion Toronto Jaguars, Toronto Indians, Palermo Athletics, and Hamilton Hawks of the GHFL.
He began his broadcasting career at The Score Television Network before moving to Rogers TV and then an 8-year stint with CBC Sports as a Host, Reporter and Producer. A veteran of 20 plus years in the Sports media, Lance has been a part of 7 Olympic Games, 4 World Cups, and a host of other major sporting events. His most recent endeavor is with the newly formed Arena Lacrosse League set to debut in 2016.
