Website Policy
Our policy is to publish information on men’s fastpitch, regardless of the organizational (alphabet soup) affiliation of the source (ISC, NAFA, ASA, etc.). We are not formally affiliated with any national organizations, though we support all in their service to men’s fastpitch. We post information submitted by organizations, leagues, teams and individuals alike.
We respect the confidentiality of our sources, and will not publish your private comments (or emails) or identify you as the source of a story or comment, except with your permission. We want you to feel comfortable chatting with us, whether it’s in person, by phone or email, without worrying what might show up in print.
If you wish to submit a story or information for posting, including entries into our online calendar, email them to us at: info@fastpitchwest.com . We reserve the right not to post items that we think are inappropriate and/or edit items submitted.
All original content published at Fastpitchwest, including articles, photographs or other multi-media are copyrighted, and may not be published or republished without the express written permission of Jim Flanagan/Fastpitchwest.com. All rights reserved. Our general practice is to permit the reposting or republication of our content provided there is appropriate credit or byline and link provided. Address all requests to jim (at) fastpitchwest.com
If you detect more coverage at Fastpitchwest of one organization, or league or team than another, that is probably because that organization, or league or team took the time to submit information to us. Often, the focus of our coverage is a product of opportunity, i.e. the fact that Fastpitchwest staff happened to be present at a particular event.
If you would like to see more coverage of a particular event, organization, league or team, we suggest you write to the organizers of the event, and encourage them to submit their information to us for posting, or better still, submit whatever information you have for posting at Fastpitchwest.com. We do our best to cover as much of men’s fastpitch as we can, but we cannot be everywhere, so look to you for your help. When you take time to submit information to us for posting, you are helping to promote this great game. The quickest solution to ensuring that information about your event appears at Fastpitchwest is to take advantage of our “Forum” message board and post it directly yourself.
This website is self-funded and done for the enjoyment of the fastpitch world, and our love of what we consider the greatest amateur sport around. We do accept sponsors for the website or various services which we provide (such as live audio broadcasts), in order to defray the cost of bringing as much coverage to the fastpitch community as possible. By doing so, we are able to continue to provide this website to the fastpitch community on a free basis. By patronizing the sponsors at our site, you are helping to support the site itself.
From time to time, we hear from people who think we’re being paid for doing the website, or that it is a money-making proposition. (The most common one we hear is the urban myth that we are paid for every click) While I suppose in a sense, such comments are flattering, neither is the case. Expenses of operating this website include the webhosting fees which we pay monthly for the site to be on the internet, domain renewal fees, travel expenses to provide in-person coverage of tournaments (plane tickets, hotel rooms, rental cars and gas), camera and computer equipment, computer software and updates, broadcasting equipment, and payments to third party vendors such as Sportjuice, which carry our live audio broadcasts of games on the internet.
Our staff consists entirely of volunteers who donate their time and energy to the site, as do contributors to the site. Fastpitchwest exists because we enjoy doing it, and because of the tremendous feedback we continue to receive from all of you that tell us that you enjoy it too. We hope you continue to enjoy our efforts.
