14th Annual McGauley Tournament
The former city tournament named after the late Recreation Supervisor, Harold McGauley is back for its 14th year. The men’s Fastpitch tournament format is double elimination held on July 8th, July 9th and July 10th. The registration fees are $200 per team with a registration deadline of June 9, 2011. There will be an additional $40 late fee if paid after June 9th. Teams who have not paid after June 16, 2011 will be dropped from the tournament. There are still openings in the tournament so please act soon. The tournament is now open to all teams, including teams which are not affiliated with the City of Edwardsville Leagues. This year the City of Edwardsville is pleased to again be awarding the Team Sportsmanship Award in honor of Tony Dycus. The teams will vote which team shows respect, ethics, and fairness throughout the tournament. Please contact the City of Edwardsville Parks and Recreation department for more details at 618-692-7538.

For the teams that are thinking about playing in this tournament, you need to know a couple of things they don't mentioned. One is that you HAVE TOO WEAR RUBBER SPIKES and the second is you ONLY GET TO PLAY A 1 HOUR AND 20 MINUTE game. Also the ground at the pitching mound is VERY SOFT as is the field. They DON'T fill the holes at the pitching mound or the batters box after every game. Other then that it is an ok tournament. _________________ __________________

It looks like they ended up with 9 teams and the schedule breaks down as follows:

Congrats to the Belleville Stallions for winning the 14th annual Harold McGauley Tournament. I was talking with person who runs the tournament and she believes the Stallions have won this tournament 5 of the last 7 years, or something close to that.
I wasn't there for the awards ceremony, but this is what I heard through the grapevine.
