Here is an update from the Illinois ASA.....I will be keeping this site updated on information as it becomes available.....
In mens fastpitch, we will again offer a Wood Bat Tournament and an Open state tournament. However, the dates and sites have been changed. We are elated to announce that after an absence of many years Casey, Illinois will become heavily involved in our fastpitch program this year as they will host the Wood Bat Tournament on July 27-29. Our Mens Open Fastpitch Tournament will be the following weekend, August 3-5 in Pekin, Illinois. Entry fees will be announced later this month BUT teams that enter at Casey will receive a sizeable discounted entry fee in Pekin. |

Thanks Rich. We all appreciate your help and you giving back to the game. It seems like we're getting to that point where we play all the same teams/locations and tournaments can get monotonous but this is something different and our guys are all excited to play in Casey!
Thanks again |

|
|
Hi Rich-
I was hoping to get some information on any roster restrictions for the tournaments you listed.
Are international players still allowed to play in the Illinois State Tournament? Do players need to be residents of Illinois? Any other restrictions in the "Open?"
We are just trying to plan ahead. I know that a few years back the ASA Major went from allowing only 2 foreign players to an unlimited number from what was rumored to be a lawsuit on the girls side?
Thanks in advance- _________________ Dave Perkins |

Dave -
To the best of my knowledge the rules for the ASA Wooden Bat State Tourney will be the same as last year - no international and no out of state.....if I find out something different I iwll let you know....
I think the ASA State is no international players and no out of state pitchers....but I will check on that also

Two years ago when the Hogs went down there were a few international players, etc. at the state tournament (Open).
I am pretty sure they allow this.

Thanks Rich.
I know they always have allowed international players. I had heard that Don Brewer may have changed it last year, although I do not think any of the teams that competed in it last year even had foriegn players on their regular roster so maybe it was a non-issue.
I wonder where any residency rules would be communicated or general roster rules for the ASA Open State Tournament (not the wood bat)? _________________ Dave Perkins |
