T-Town Memorial Day Men’s Fastpitch Tourney

The 2012 T-Town Men’s Memorial Day Fastpitch Tourney will begin Wednesday May 23rd and run through May 27th. May 28th is a rain day. The tournament will be played at the T-Town KC Hall Diamond in T-Town. There will be 10 teams competing for the title this year. This is one of the top men’s fastpitch Memorial Day tourney’s in the Midwest. Kreke’s Tree Service Bud Light won their first Memorial Day Championship last year and will be back to defend last year’s title. The other top 3 teams from last year’s tournament: Pickneyville Lee’s Sports, Central Illinios Knights, and Koerner Miller Lite will all be back to try and knock off Kreke’s. All 4 teams return with great pitching and hitting. Anyone of them could end up with the crown. Central Illinois’s roster includes many players from the former Decatur Pride and pitching legend Brent Stevenson. The field also includes Wessel’s Coors Light, T-Town KC’s, Donnewald Budweiser, Belleville Stallions, Altamont, and the Villa Grove Hurricanes. 19 games over 5 days will decide the winner of the double elimination tournament.
The top 4 finishers will receive trophies. There will also be a Most Valuable Pitcher and a Most Valuable Player Award. Terry Mette of Kreke’s Tree service won both awards in 2011. He will be back to defend his title and play a major role with Kreke’s trying to defend their title. Some of Illinois’ best pitchers and players will be playing in this tournament.
For the 5th straight year the tourney committee will again honor a long time friend of the men’s fastpitch game. Chris Hutts passed away in 2003 and was a long time member of the fastpitch family. He was known for being a great competitor, a great teammate on the field, and one of the nicest guys you would meet off the field. Chris was known as a power hitter back in his day. To honor his time and dedication to men’s fastpitch game, the league will present “The Chris Hutts Memorial Day Homerun Champ” award. This award will go to the individual that hits the most homeruns during the tourney. The highest batting average will be the tie-breaker. Will Clark from Kreke’s won the Chris Hutts award in 2011 and he too will be back to defend his title.
Come out and enjoy plenty of food, cold drinks, 50/50 drawings and some men’s fastpitch softball.
