Short stay for me in Decatur....Arrived about noon Saturday and leaving by 2 p.m. Sunday. Here's what I know so far. Will post more later.

Fields lack the 'fastpitch flavor' of Borg-Warner, but Rotary Park is an excellent complex. The diamonds appear in top-notch shape and the weather simply gorgeous. Barely 70 degrees with a cool north wind.

Thursday's results

Reasoner RPM's (Monroe, Ia.) 1, Cerro Gordo, Il. 0
Springfield, Il. Brandt's 1, Rice Creek Lightning (Homer, Mi.) 0
Mt. Zion, Il. forfeit win over Lee's Sports Falcons (Radom, Il.)

Friday's results
Nokomis, Il. Bud Light 5, Wessel's Coors Light (Teutopolis, Il.) 2
New Image (Mt. Horeb, Mi.) 7, West Central Budweiser (Lynville, Il.) 0
Rudd's Team&Trophy (Peoria, Il.) 2, Norhen Farms Heat (Villa Grove, Il.) 1
Ashland Merchants (Spencer, Oh.) 8, Chicago, Il. Fastpitch 0
Pete's/S. Illinois Blues (Herrin, Il.) 7, The Freight (Vandalia, Il.) 6
Cerro Gordo 4, Wessel's 3
Rice Creek 7, West Central Budweiser 0
Norhen Farms Heat forfeit win over Lee's Sports
The Freight 7, Chicago Fastpitch 5
RPM 1, Nokomis Bud Light 0
New Image 2, Brandt's 0
Rudd's Team&Trophy 6, Mt. Zion 4
Ashland Merchants 5, Pete's/S.I. Blues 4
Cerro Gordo 7, W. Central Budweiser 0 (W. Central eliminated, 0-3)
Rice Creek 14, Wessel's 2 (Wessel's eliminated, 0-3)
Norhen Farms 9, Chicago 1 (Chicago eliminated, 0-3)

Saturday's results
The Freight forfeit win over Lee's Sports (Lee's Sports forfeits out, 0-3)
Cerro Gordo 6, Pete's Blues 54 (Pete's Blues eliminated, 1-2)
Rice Creek 8, Mt. Zion 0 (mt. Zion eliminated, 1-2)
Norhen Farms 1, Brandt's 0 (Brandt's eliminated, 1-2)
The Freight 4, Nokomis 3 (Nokomis eliminated, 1-2)
New Image 7, RPM's 5 (I think that was the score, going on memory for that one)
Rudd's 1, Ashland 0
Cerro Gordo 5, Rice's 1 (Rice eliminated, 2-2)
Norhen Farms 9, The Freight 7 (The Freight eliminated, 3-2)
Cerro Gordo 9, RPM's 2 (RPM's eliminated, 2-2)
Ashland 3, Norhen Farms 0 (Norhen eliminated, 2-2)
New Image 9, Rudd's 2 (winners bracket final)
Cerro Gordo 5, Ashland 4 (Ashland eliminated, 3-2)

Cerro Gordo vs. Ashland was an excellent game. The Ohio team certainly didn't get any breaks. I will leave it at that.

Ashland finishes fourth.

Sunday's schedule
losers bracket final, 10 a.m.
Rudd's vs. Cerro Gordo

winner needs to beat New Image twice with games at noon and 2 p.m.

What happened to Radom???

I see they forfeited some games.

Hope there is not a problem.

Please note, I've updated my first post with all the scores through Sunday.

I plan to depart after the 10 a.m. game. Hopefully someone can post details on the finals.

Radom had both its pitchers injured last week and decided to scrap a trip to Decatur.

Congratulations to Rudds for finishing 2nd at A Nationals. Their 22 or 23 inning game against Villa Grove Heat/Nohren Farm was quite a battle. To come back from that game and win the next several is quite an achievement. Special congrats to Terry & Jerry Rudd, and Darin Seibel who have been playing the game for the last 25 years and are so deserving of this feat.

Also congrats to Cerro Gordo! After losing their first game (I think) they battled through a difficult route in the loser's bracket to finish third.

I would also like to congratulate Mike Reis and Jeff Howell for their outstanding pitching over the weekend. They too, have been around the game for some time now. Congrats!

Rudd's not only played great, this weekend, but they really had a great year all the way around. They won the NAFA N. Illinois Qualifier and had a great run in the NAFA A Major too. Jeff and Mike threw great in the ASA tourney, and I am not quite sure how one of them was not placed on the first team all tournament. They didn't announce 2nd team all tournament, so hopefully they will get recognized there.

As a matter of fact, not one Peoria player was placed on the first team all tournament squad. I am not sure on all the stats, but this is a great indicator how a team can go farther than individuals.

Again, great job at Nationals Rudds !

Tim
