Second in a series of ten team profiles for the 2011 Best of the West Tournament, to be played June 4-5, 2011 at Elings Park in Santa Barbara, California<\/em> Click here for schedule of games for the 2011 tournament.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Cal-State Builders are one of ten teams competing in this year’s 2011 Best of the West (BOTW) tournament. They’ll be competing in Pool B, against the Italian Athletic Club, Pala Braves, Maccabi USA and CR\/A1 Rockies.<\/p>\n

The Cal-State Builders were formed in 2009 by Skipper Dave Carlton, placing 3rd at the NAFA AA nationals and winning the 40 and over NAFA masters that year. While the masters team is entirely different from the travel team, the 2011 group also includes new talent mixed with the “inaugural” members. Darren Strang (Richmond, BC) and Kevin Kammueller (Shakopee, MN) cover the pitching duties while hitters include ISC newcomers Ricky Sivilla, Ricky Moore, Dany Blanco, Scot Tomasello, Matt McMann, and Merrick Tan. <\/p>\n

The Builders are considering an ASA nationals appearance in Fresno due to location and are tentatively planning another NAFA World Series trip, and hope to qualify for the ISC World Tournament as well.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
