{"id":17155,"date":"2012-07-17T08:19:37","date_gmt":"2012-07-17T15:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fastpitchwest.com\/?p=17155"},"modified":"2012-07-17T08:19:37","modified_gmt":"2012-07-17T15:19:37","slug":"carp-i4c-wins-ausable-forks-fast-pitch-tourney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fastpitchwest.com\/?p=17155","title":{"rendered":"Carp I4C wins AuSable Forks Fast-Pitch tourney"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Cap tip Bruce Hackett<\/em><br \/>\n&#8212;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17156\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17156\" style=\"width: 212px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pressrepublican.com\/0300_sports\/x1301512421\/Carp-I4C-wins-AuSable-Forks-Fast-Pitch-tourney\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fastpitchwest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Press.Republican.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Press.Republican\" width=\"212\" height=\"90\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17156\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17156\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Click logo for complete news story at the Press Republican.<\/figcaption><\/figure>AUSABLE FORKS \u2014 There is a new champion in the AuSable Forks Fast-Pitch Tournament, celebrating its 50th year.<\/p>\n<p>Carp I4C edged the Donnacona Blue Sox in a thrilling 7-6 walk-off victory in the title game Sunday, ending Donnacona\u2019s two-year run as tournament champions.<\/p>\n<p>Carp I4C trailed 6-2 until tournament Most Valuable Player Bruce Hackett drilled a grand slam in the fifth inning to knot the score.<\/p>\n<p>Matt McKnish, who made the All-Star team, ended the game with a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.<\/p>\n<p>Tournament Best Pitcher Neil Cooke pitched Carp I4C to victory in both the semifinal and championship games.<\/p>\n<p>Carp I4C earned a trio of first-place awards \u2014 the Tom O\u2019Neill Memorial Trophy, the Arthur Douglas Memorial Trophy and the \u201cSharkey\u201d Patnode Memorial Trophy \u2014 along with the $2,000 prize.<\/p>\n<p>The Donnacona Blue Sox were led by All-Star team member Matt Greer, who had a two-RBI triple, and Steve Savard, who hit a two-run home run.<\/p>\n<p>Donnacona won $900, while third-place teams CPI and Knoxville each earned $300.<\/p>\n<p>In the tournament semifinals, both games went into extra innings.<\/p>\n<p>Donnacona outlasted CPI\/Classics, 2-1, in 10 innings, while Carp I4C needed eight innings before recording a 3-2 victory over Knoxville.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s tournament featured the biggest crowd in the history of the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cap tip Bruce Hackett &#8212; AUSABLE FORKS \u2014 There is a new champion in the AuSable Forks Fast-Pitch Tournament, celebrating its 50th year.
