USA Men’s National Team Loses Lead Early In Defeat<\/p>\n

USA Men’s National Team<\/a>\u00a0watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 3-2 loss to Colombia on Tuesday. Colombia took the lead on a single in the second inning.<\/p>\n

The pitching was strong on both sides. Colombia pitchers struck out six, while\u00a0USA Men’s National Team<\/a>\u00a0sat down six<\/p>\n

Colombia took an early lead in the second inning. Colombia scored one run when\u00a0Irrarte<\/a>\u00a0singled with two outs in the second inning.<\/p>\n

Chincillz<\/a>\u00a0earned the win for Colombia. He tossed five and a third innings, giving up one run, five hits, striking out four, and walking one.\u00a0Duane Weiler<\/a>\u00a0took the loss for\u00a0USA Men’s National Team<\/a>. He went three innings, allowing two runs, five hits, striking out two, and walking one.<\/p>\n

USA Men’s National Team<\/a>\u00a0had seven hits in the game.\u00a0Derrick Kennedy<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Nick Mullins<\/a>\u00a0each collected multiple hits for\u00a0USA Men’s National Team<\/a>.\u00a0Erick Ochoa<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Kennedy<\/a>\u00a0each drove in one run to lead\u00a0USA Men’s National Team<\/a>.\u00a0USA Men’s National Team<\/a>\u00a0was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.\u00a0Ochoa<\/a>\u00a0had the most chances in the field with seven.<\/p>\n

Colombia collected nine hits.\u00a0Cardoto<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Cuesta<\/a>\u00a0each collected multiple hits for Colombia. Colombia didn’t commit a single error in the field.\u00a0Parejo<\/a>\u00a0had the most chances in the field with seven.<\/p>\n

Editor’s recap: \u00a0<\/strong>Chincillz threw well for Columbia, keeping the ball in on the hands of USA hitters. \u00a0For five innings, he shut them out. \u00a0Derrick Kennedy and Nick Mullins had 5 of the 7 USA hits (Kennedy 3 and Mullins 2). \u00a0Erick Ochoa’s homer in the 6th seemed to awaken the USA, trimming the lead at the time to 3-1. In the 7th, Mullins led off with a single, Castillo walked and Kennedy singled home a run, cutting the lead to one, 3-2. \u00a0At that point, with runners at first and second and nobody out in the bottom of the 7th, it looked like the USA comeback was on. \u00a0But nothing after that. \u00a0Strikeout. \u00a0Strikeout. \u00a0Ground Out and game over. \u00a0The USA finds themselves now facing Cuba (2:30pm EDT today) in a must win game. \u00a0 The USA had to go to their ace, Mancha to start the 4th inning against Columbia, following a high-stress complete game win over the Dominican Republic the day before — something they would have preferred not to do, especially with a strong Cuban team on the horizon for today. \u00a0 Already a tiring week for the workhorse ace, but look for Mancha in the circle when play gets underway. \u00a0 Watch it live here.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0(the game times at the various websites are often wrong, due to rain rescheduling, so pay them no mind. \u00a0Watch for the “En Vivo” (“Live”) graphic for the game when it begins.<\/p>\n
