\nDespite an opening round loss Friday night, Elkville Fastpitch bounced back nicely to claim a top six finish at the 23rd Annual Kelso, Mo. Klassic Tournament Sunday.<\/p>\n
Elkville is now 12-5 and plays again Thursday as the 10th Annual Terry Deering Memorial Tournament begins at Radom.<\/p>\n
Saturday afternoon in Kelso, Elkville rallied from way behind to pull out an 8-7 win in eight innings over Radom’s Lee’s Sports Falcons.<\/p>\n
Barry Maynor’s two-run double won the game after Radom had pulled ahead 7-6 in the top of the eighth.<\/p>\n
Elkville rallied for five runs in the seventh to force overtime, knotting the score on Drew Porter’s two-run double.<\/p>\n
Porter and Lance Bedar each had two hits in the game.<\/p>\n
For Radom, Ryan Colle and Kelly Bauza enjoyed multi-hit games.<\/p>\n
Troy Downen and Mark Radake were the pitchers of record.<\/p>\n
Elkville then bounced back Saturday night to eliminate defending ASA Class B National Champion Memphis, Tn. Posse 5-4.<\/p>\n
With the score tied at 3-3 in the fourth, Elkville plated the decisive two runs.<\/p>\n
Shawn Hunter singled and scored on Waylon Leonard’s RBI double. Leonard then slid across the plate after a throwing error.<\/p>\n
Yates and Hunter had produced RBI during a three-run Elkville second.<\/p>\n
Les Wood was the winning hurler.<\/p>\n
Sunday, despite Wood’s 11 strikeouts, Elkville fell 5-2 to Springfield, Il. Brandt’s.<\/p>\n
Aaron Hunter and S. Hunter knocked in runs for Ekville.<\/p>\n
Radom also lost to Vandalia Guaranteed Air Freight 12-4 and Hermann, Mo. Black-Gold 5-1 Saturday and finished the tournament with a 1-3 record.<\/p>\n
Against Vandalia, C.J. Cruser and Josh Fisher each had two RBI.<\/p>\n
