Venezuela(8-1) shutout<br \/>\nDeMo EHS (5-4) of the Netherlands, 8-0 in the earlier playoff<br \/>\ngame to advance.<\/p>\n<p>Japan pounded USA pitchers TravisPrice (Santa Ana, Calif.and Sonny<br \/>\nPerkins (St. Michael\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, Ariz.for 11 hits. Price hurled the first<br \/>\nthree innings, allowing seven runs and seven hits in the third<br \/>\ninning. Perkins entered the game in the fourth inning and allowed<br \/>\nfive runs on four hits.<\/p>\n<p>The seven run Japan third included a solo homer by shortstop Ryuji<br \/>\nHazeyama. Left fielder Kiensakus Nishio also had a single in the<br \/>\ninning and scored a run.<\/p>\n<p>Japanused two pitchers to limit the USAto a run in the third<br \/>\ninning on an RBI single by catcher Frank DeGroat (Ringwood, N.J.)<br \/>\nand asolo homer to right center by Chris Miljavac (St. Joseph,<br \/>\nMo.in the fifth inning.<\/p>\n<p>Miljavac, who had a single in the third inning and was the only<br \/>\nUSA player with at least two hits, hit his firsthomer of the<br \/>\nWorld Cup off Japanhurler Tatsuya Hamaguchi, who entered the<br \/>\ngame for starter Kazutaka Murasato inthe fifth inning. Murasato<br \/>\nhurled the first four innings allowing one run on fourhits.
