VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Manager Derek Mayson of the Meralomas is busy finalizing his roster and filling out his schedule for the 2010 season. One of the stops on that schedule will be at the \u00e2\u20ac\u01532010 California Classic\u00e2\u20ac\u009d June 19-20 at Sportsplex USA in Santee, California.<\/p>\n

Twelve International Softball Congress (ISC) World Tournament open-level teams from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico will battle for one World Tournament berth that will be awarded to the highest finishing U.S. West team.<\/p>\n

Mayson not only manages the team along with Danny Lee, but Mayson is also one of the team\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s top pitchers at the age of 26.<\/p>\n

Playing in the deep southern part of California will be a new venture for Meraloma, which won the Premier League championship in 2007-2008. And Mayson said the team\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s looking forward to the trip.<\/p>\n

What can fans expect to see?<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got a balanced line-up that features some of everything with speed and defense being the keys,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Mayson said, adding that the players are paying their own way through fundraising and some support from the Meraloma Club. The ball club is also a member of the oldest amateur sports organization in North America since 1923, Mayson said.<\/p>\n

Some of the key players to watch include Mayson, who has been with the team for nine years. Along with Ryan Hawk, 28, in the infield, and a 4 year veteran with the club. And catcher, Mike Podmore, 41, with the longest tenure of 23 years.<\/p>\n

The roster isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t quite complete, but fans can expect to see most of these players taking the field for their opening game:
