{"id":739,"date":"2006-01-17T19:06:14","date_gmt":"2006-01-18T03:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fastpitchwest.com\/morningbrief\/?p=739"},"modified":"2006-01-17T21:02:07","modified_gmt":"2006-01-18T05:02:07","slug":"vilanders-long-beach-gamecocks-roll-out-new-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fastpitchwest.com\/morningbrief\/?p=739","title":{"rendered":"Vilanders, Long Beach Gamecocks roll out new website"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Be sure to check out the Long Beach Gamecocks new website:<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/eteamz.active.com\/gamecocks\/index.cfm?\">Long Beach Gamecocks<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a short excerpt about the team from their site:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Long Beach Gamecocks Fastpitch Softball Team was founded by the father and son combo of Don and Tyler Vilander in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>The father-son tandem has been in or around the game for the last thirty years, whether it was Don bringing Tyler\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s little league baseball team out to Joe Roger\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s, or taking the family to Hawaii to watch his team win the Bob Rapp tournament; it was just a matter of time until Tyler picked up the game.<\/p>\n<p>That time came this past summer when Tyler was invited to fill in with \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Those Guys\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at the Santa Barbara tournament. After that tournament Tyler\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s excitement rubbed off onto his friends and they all teamed up with \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Those Guys\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in the Cal Cup, where they met Joe Edwards. With a verbal commitment from Joe to join the new team Don and Tyler started the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Long Beach Gamecocks.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em><br \/>\n<strong>Editor&#8217;s note: <\/strong> Don Vilander and I went to school together, growing up playing fastpitch on the playgrounds in Long Beach.
