"Otto's Pitch"

Bob
Otto is a leading writer and photographer of Men's Fastpitch in the U.S.
He also served for a number of years as the official ISC Photographer. We are pleased to feature
his work here in the pages of Fastpitchwest. Some of
the stories are profiles of personalities associated with the game of fastpitch,
reminscent of the late, great Jim Murray, sportswriter of the Los Angeles
Times. Others are his opinions expressed in editorial fom on the
issues of the day, which are not necessarily the opinions of Fastpitchwest.
Whether you agree with the opinions or not, we think you will find
his writings to be thought provoking. It is our belief
that the regardless of your positions on the issues, it is the dialogue
that is important, so that the course fastpitch takes ultimately reflects
action taken after thorough discourse. For the many of
us who have lamented that the newspapers in our cities do not pay enough
attention to men's fastpitch, we offer the writings of someone who does.
Good reading.

A longtime
pitcher himself, Bob's photos often provide a player's perspective,
capturing the essence of the game that is fastpitch. The photo at
left
is one such photo, of pitcher Glen "The Rocket" Davis, at the 2002 Best of
the West tournament.
