" The Readers
Write "One of the best things
about hosting this website is getting to hear from so many of you, to hear
a bit about fastpitch in your corner of the world. The readers
write...
Sometimes it's a question,
the ones we all ask when we are trying to track down that elusive answer,
e.g. "where is that tournament going to be", "is there a bracket out",
"does anyone have scores yet?" "when is that fastpitch movie coming to my
neighborhood?", "do you have an email address for..." "how do I find out
more about.....".
Other times, it is kind
words of encouragement about our website and our efforts here. Other
times, it might be to send along some information for posting, everything
from the latest tournament results, game scores, upcoming events, "free
agent" movement, or even announcements of weddings, illnesses or passings
of our fastpitch friends. We appreciate the short ones to correct an
error, spelling or typo (however occasional they may be :-) Oh, and
there is always a controversy or two to talk about, those differences of
opinion that make things interesting, and bring out the passion in our
readers.
The point of this is to
invite and encourage you readers to write. Our "hit" counters tell
us how many people have been visiting, but they don't
tell me who. Poke your head inside our "offices" and say hello once in a
while, let us know what you like and what you don't. Let us know you
stopped by.
A Sampling from the Mail Bag.......
(and not to worry, we leave your
comments anonymous, and don't include comments of a personal nature, so
you may feel free to say what you wish. the point is simply to let you
know what others are saying.)

"Jim, thank you for all your work in
promoting men's fastpitch..." |

"Jim, you and I, haven't met yet, in
person, or other wise. I am writing this e-mail to say, thank you for the
comments you said about my boys... They both said nothing but good thing
about you and your wonderful wife... It was great listening to your
broadcast, on the computer, from Florida." |

"You truly have a great web-site that keeps
getting better. Thanks for the updates on the AAU International." |

"I listened to you radio casts from Orlando
and enjoyed them.
Could you please go to Christchurch and do them there!!" |
|

"I listened to a couple of the games on
sportsjuice. I thought you did a very, very good job. As a kid (yes, I
once was a kid), I used to listen to the Milwaukee Braves games in the
late 50's and early 60's on the radio as a farmboy in rural Minnesota. I
was a huge fan albeit a very young one of those powerful Brave teams back
then. Warren Spahn, Lew Burdette, Del Crandall, some guy named Hank
Aaron, Eddie Matthews, Joe Adcock, Johnny Logan, Wes Covington, Bob
Buhl......to mention a few. While listening to you, I flashed back to
those days when I had to use my imagination. You helped it with your
descriptive "calling" of the game..." |

"Probably the best quality Men's Fastpitch website out there. Tons of
information available and is quickly becoming more than just a "west
coast" website. Jim's recent coverage of the AAU Tournament was awesome, I
listened to every game broadcast on this site. It seemed about 20 degrees
warmer here just listening to softball. Lot's of good quality photos and
information." |

wonderful work Jim and Maddy." |

"Dear Jim Flanagan and Madeleine Grau of Fastpitch West:
I applaud you and your outstanding work at the NAFA World Series.
You gave us 10 days of excellent journalism and photography. Your efforts,
hard work, and devotion to bringing the rest of us fastpitch folks back
home a birds eye view of the World Series was first rate and beyond what
anyone could reasonably expect. The many fans of NAFA and men's fastpitch
softball thank you. Oh, in case you forget. Tomorrow is Monday and another
work day, so no sleeping in!" |

wonderful tool to help keep everyone in touch." |

(re: the movie "Fastpitch")
....----took our two grandsons to see the movie
last Saturday and we all enjoyed the movie. I hope the make a video so
the people that did not get a chance to see it will be able. I would also
like to see again. [We] enjoy the news you have and I make copies for
[the team] to read. Keep up the good work.

"I like the new rankings. I'm sure that you will
definitely spark up some controversy over the them. You will have a ton of
"hits" on your site everyday, just to get the rankings." |

I saw your posting on Fastpitch West about ranking
the teams. I think it is a great idea. You do a great job, and your
website is fantastic. Although, I don't agree with everything that is
written on the site, I respect it's integrity & independence.

Wow!! I was just on your site and I was the 3000th
visitor!!! |
|

What a great site!!! I love
fastpitch at the major level. And I am
sure I will visit your site many times in
2001. What I am particularly interested in is where qualifying
tournaments will be held in both ISC
and NAFA.

(Asking about
Fastpitch, the Movie)
Are there any plans on a showing in
the Midwest area?
I am a huge fastpitch fan and would love to
see the film |

(Commenting on the old FPW
"entrance page" with the spinning ball)
I was very impressed. That is
really neat!! If you wouldn't mind one purist's viewpoint. Slowpitch
softballs are distinguised from FP balls by their "red" stitching.
Editor's Note: He's right about that ball. Well, for
now it will have to do :-)

I am planning to attend the 10 AM
showing tomorrow, god willing.
Thanks again for doing your part to keep the
game alive, Jim. |

James, thanks for adding me to the

Your updates on Fernie's Tournament were fabulous.
I know that there had to be many of us, who would have loved to go, but
circumstances prevailed. This is a great service that you are providing to
the men's fastpitch community and it is much appreciated from this old
guy. |

I read with interest the tournament
held at the Indian reservation, only about 20 minutes from my home. If
Pechanga has such a nice facility, it would be a great place for an ISC
World tournament or any other national championship.

(Asking about
Fastpitch, The Movie)
Anything on dates for HOnolulu,
Hawaii? |
| 10/13/00, |
Thanks for the info on the
"Fastpitch" movie. I've been wondering when
we would get it on the west coast. Maybe it
will help to stir up a
little more interest in the game.

.....the illegal pitch controversy will probably
carry us through the winter again!!! |

Your Web Site is outstanding for followers of
Fastpitch/Fastball. I played
and managed back in the late 60s and early 70s and would have
continued. I hope that So. Calif. and parts of the
Central Valley revisit Open calibre Fastpitch. I would attend games if I
know where they're played. Again, you have a very informative site.
Thanks. |

I was planning on emailing you earlier to let you
know i appreciated you putting my name on the
website. I thought it
was pretty cool! |

I follow the guys on the net. The ISC had excellent
coverage this year, it was amazing.

Just did a search engine for softball on aol do you
know if these teams are
set or if they need players. |

I finally visited your site! I don't know too much
about creating web pages, but
that looks like a lot of work to update all of the links--very
impressive.
