The
Quaker Riversharks
[4/9/04] -We are excited to announce the roster and schedule for the
Quaker Riversharks a fastball team from Pennsylvania. My name is Bob
Nydick and I am the sponsor and General Manager of the Quaker Riversharks.
The first team that I organized participated in the ASA C National
Championship in 1996. From 1997 through 2001 we played in the NAFA A or AA
World Series rarely finishing with a winner record. During the winter
after the 2001 season, about 10 players from the old Blue Mountain View (ASA
A) team joined the Quaker team. The 2002 season proved to be the turning
point, as we finished in 5th place in the NAFA A World Series and 3rd
place in the NSA World Series. During the next winter, the All Seasons
(Major) team folded, and we picked up several of their players. The Quaker
Riversharks continued their success in 2003, compiling a 58 and 14 record,
while finishing in second place in the NAFA AA World Series and fourth
place in the NAFA AAA World Series.
During
the winter of 2003, the CanAm Windmillers (Major) were having
financial difficulties and the remains of their team merged with ours.
We are now poised to be considered a true major team as our sites are set
on participating in the ISC World Tournament in Fargo and the NAFA AAA
World Series in Hutchinson.
Our complete schedule can be found on our website
www.quakerriversharks.com; however, the
schedule has the following
highlights.
First, we will participate in the Mid-Atlantic Travel League (5/14-5/16
Lebanon, PA, 6/18-6/20 Lyons, PA, and 7/9-7/11 Lebanon, PA).
We will also venture to Wheaton, MD to play in the Hall of Fame Classic
from 4/30-5/2.
In June, we will be in Washington, DC to play in the FedLock Invitational.
The weekend of July 16-18, we will travel to Orillia, Ontario to play
against some of the top teams in North America in the Casino Rama World
Series.
We also plan to play in the Pennsylvania Invitational Tournament in
Lyons, PA on the weekend of 7/30-8/1.
We hope to finish our year by playing in the ISC World Tournament in
Fargo from 8/13-8/21 and the NAFA AAA World Series in Hutchinson, KS from
8/26-8/28.
Our final tournament will take us to Elkland, PA on 9/3-9/6 for the
Elkland Labor Day Tournament.
This is a challenging schedule, yet all of our guys are up for the
challenge.
Our complete roster includes the following coaches and players. As you can
see, we are attempting to blend youth and experience by havin a team with
solid pitching and defense.
