My name is Fred Hanker and I played many years with The Stout Tower Stars, Captain Dan's and The Blazers Men's Fastpitch Teams. I took 6 years off and got the bug back and decided to start my own team consisting of old friends, former teammates and opponents. We are called the Long Beach Black Sox and many of our players are first time participants in fastpitch with a mixture of veterans. This will be a C team who will mostly compete in B and C tournaments.

Players you may be familiar with who have played in the past who will be with us at sometime during the year are: Dale Lopes, John Medina, George Davis, John Ashpaugh, Randy Clay, Jeff Odell, Jim Flanagan (when not pitching with the Rounders) and myself, Fred Hanker. Some of our new players who have already gained a year of valuable experience include Kenny "The Jet" Harley, Emir Saffir, John Ott and Dan Fleming.  I am always looking for players so if your interested please email the team email or my personal email. We finished a year in the Wednesday Artesia League and showed great improvement. We will startup again in Artesia in January of 2004. We just finished playing in our first tournament and finished in the top 10 in the Norwalk Tournament. Our plans for 2004 are to play in 4 or 5 tournaments and hopefully get in the So Cal C Travel League.
