2004 RED ROCK INVITATIONAL

Red Rock is a 4-game guarantee. Pools of 4-teams each playing round robin
into single elimination play on Sunday for all entered teams.
Tournament headquarters
will be the Crystal Inn where they are offering teams a $69 room rate
which includes a full breakfast buffet for all motel guests. Contact Jodi

(Editor's note: I'm told the Crystal Inn has the
nicest swimming pool in town, so remember to pack those suits.)

St.
George is located in southwestern corner of Utah. Its warm weather
retirement community with 7 beautiful diamonds of golf green outfields ,
enclosed fences. Snack Bar. From Las Vegas its about a 1 ½ hour drive and
from salt Lake city about 5 hours. Commuter flights are available from
both LV & SLC. It is also only a 30 Minute drive to Mesquite, NV a little
Las Vegas. Motel info will be sent upon receipt of entry fee. Friday games
available if desired by teams. We are looking for a 16 team tournament.

Crystal Inn - St. George is conveniently located off of I-15, Exit 6, in
St. George, Utah. St. George is home to beautiful scenery and the gateway
to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park. It's excellent golf
courses, first-rate medical center, widely respected community college,
commuter airline, symphony orchestra, comfortable climate, and many other
factors have made it one of the fastest growing cities in the country.

Red Rock Update from Ken

The annual Red Rock
Invitational in beautiful St. George, UT will see 2003 ISC World
Tournament Champion, Broken Bow Spirit and 15 other top quality teams
entered for the May 1 & 2 tournament.
Joining Broken Bow from last year's top 16 finishers in the ISC World
Tournament are Houston HIS and Portland DeMarini Merchants. Page Brake and
Team Rainey, both of whom missed last year's final 16 by losing first-ever
play-off games in the ISC, also join the field of 16.
For the schedule, click menu button at left. Pool play on Saturday, bracket play
on Sunday. Bracket play will have 2 8-team single elimination
brackets. Top two teams from each pool go into Championship bracket while
lower two teams enter the consolation bracket.
Jim and Maddy Flanagan who did such a great job in Internet Streaming and
photography at the AAU International at Disney World in January, will be
on hand to lend their talents to the Red Rock Invitational. Details on
Internet Streaming will be announced once the schedule is developed.
Umpire In Chief, Roy Stout has lined up an impressive crew of blue who
come from all parts of the US and Canada. Many of the Red Rock umpires
have both ISF and ISC World Tournament experience.
ISC personnel expected to attend include former ISC President Ed Kirner
(IL), current ISC President Dick Mason (CO) and ISC Treasurer Charlie
Smith (TX). ISC Western Vice President Chris Santos will be there with his
Pueblo Bandits team. California ISC Commissioner Clyde Bennett will be
umpiring. Don Young, Utah ISC Commissioner will handle scoring/stats for
his Utah teams. NAFA is to be represented by Executive Director, Benjie
Hedgecock who will be attending as an umpire too.
Team USA Junior Men's head coach Tim Lyon (UT) and his 2005 coaching staff
of Gary Mullican (CA) and Scott Standerfer (IL) will be present to
evaluate some potential players on their 19-Under ISF team. Anyone
interested in having an age-eligible player evaluated during the Red Rock
Invitational, is asked to first contact Tim Lyon

make arrangements. The Junior Men's ISF World Championships are scheduled for June 22 to July 1, 2005 in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada. For age eligibility, players
must have been born January 1, 1986 or later.
The coaching staff is also interested in seeing players who were born in
1989 or later for the 2008 cycle. If you have any questions about whether
or not a player is eligible, please contact Coach Lyon. No softball
experience is necessary, baseball players who have an interest in becoming
a part of the USA National Team Program are also welcome and encouraged to
attend.
