Welcome to Altamonte Springs, Florida and the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) Men's Major Fast Pitch National Championship Finals Tournament. Altamonte Sports, The City of Altamonte Springs & the Central Florida ASA are proud to host this prestigious event at Merrill Park Softball Complex - the Official USA Softball National Team Training Center - East Coast. ENTRY INFORMATION

 

The enclosed Official Tournament Entry Form, ASA Championship Roster (signed by your local State or Metro Commissioner), Entry Fee & Team Photo (along with member's names), must be in the hands of Tournament Host, Altamonte Sports, before 5:00pm, Wednesday, July 13th. The $275.00 entry fee must be in the form of a certified check or money order (no personal checks will be accepted), payable to: Altamonte Sports/City of Altamonte Springs. Your ASA State/Metro Commissioner must sign the Official ASA National Tournament Entry Form & ASA Championship Roster and mail to the following address:

ADMISSION (GATE FEE) ASSESMENT

To make the tournament accessible to visitors and local residents alike, each participating team will be assessed a gate fee. With this method we do not limit entry into the playing venue.  The gate fee will be $100.00 (each team is assessed this fee in addition to the entry fee). This fee may be added to your entry fee but must be paid prior to 5:00pm, Wednesday, July 13th.

 

CHECK-IN PROCEDURES

Team check-in will be held at the Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs. Photo IDs are required for Team Check-in. Check-in will be done on the following dates & times: Wednesday, August 3, 2005 6:00pm to 7:00pm & Thursday, August 4, 2005 (Late Check-in) 9:00am to 10:00am                        

 

CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW

The Championship Bracket Draw will take place on Wednesday, July 20th at 12:00 noon. The bracket will then be posted on the tournament web site: www.altamontesports.org

 

MANAGER'S MEETING

The Manager's Meeting will be held on Thursday, August 4th from 10:00am to 11:00am at the Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs. This meeting is for the Managers ONLY.

 

OPENING CEREMONIES

Opening Ceremonies will commence at 3:00pm, Thursday, August 4th, at Merrill Park Softball Complex.

 

TOURNAMENT PLAY

The first round of tournament play will begin at 4:00pm (or at the conclusion of Opening Ceremonies) on Thursday, August 4th

 

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS

All players must dress identically per the ASA Official Playing Rules. Players and coaches shall not display the logos of any other association on their uniforms.

 

PRACTICE FIELDS

Practice fields will be available on August 1st & 2nd on a first come, first serve basis. The fee is $10.70 (tax included) for 2-hour slots. Practice fields will be scheduled on even hours. Please contact the Tournament Director, Bill Goebel, to schedule practice times at 407-571-8779.

TOURNAMENT AWARDS

Sponsor Awards: Sponsor awards will be presented to Champion through fourth (4th) place.

 

Individual Awards: Individual awards will be made to each individual whose name appears on the National Championship Final and runner-up roster and who is present at the tournament. The team manager and coach will also receive an individual award.

 

Batting Champion Award: One player will be awarded a Batting Champion Award. The player selected shall have the highest batting percentage from a minimum of plate appearances as specified in the ASA Code.

 

Tournament MVP: One player shall be selected as the tournament's Most Valuable Player. The player selected shall have played for one of the teams finishing first through fourth places.

All-American Teams: Two (2) All-American teams will be selected. Fifteen (15) players will be named to each All-American team - including: first base, second base, third base, shortstop, four (4) outfielders, three utility players, one catcher, and three (3) pitchers.

 

Awards will be presented to members of the All-American first team. Players selected to the second team will receive an engraved certificate from the ASA National Office.

 

TOURNAMENT PARKING

Adequate lighted, paved parking is available at Merrill Park Softball Complex. If needed, an overflow parking lot will be available within half a block of the site. There will be no charge for parking.

 

SOUVENIRS

Items will be available for purchase during the Tournament at Merrill Park Softball Complex.

 

HOME TEAM

The home team will be determined by a coin toss prior to the start of each game. Team managers or their designee should bring a competed lineup card and report upstairs in the Operations Office building to the Tournament Director (or his designee) 30 minutes prior to game time.

 

TEAM SEATING

The team at the top of the bracket will use the first base dugout. The team listed at the bottom of the bracket will use the third base dugout. Exception: Whenever a team plays back-to-back games on a field, that team will stay in whichever dugout they are already in to save time and effort. Only rostered players, coaches and managers are allowed in the dugout area.                                                    

 

INFIELD PRACTICE

Absolutely no batted infield practice will be allowed.

 

SOFTBALLS

The official game ball for this event shall be the Worth K-Master, 120 stitch, .47 COR-375 compression, ASA approved white leather cover softball.

 

PARK RULES

In order to provide a safe, clean and pleasant environment for all park patrons to enjoy, please be aware of the following Merrill Park Softball Complex Rules: Please dispose of trash in the containers provided. No smoking is permitted on the playing fields or in the team dugout areas. Alcoholic beverages will not be brought into the complex. Alcohol may be purchased at the beer tent and consumed on site. Glass containers are prohibited. Pets are not allowed inside the softball complex (Exception: Leader dogs for the visually impaired will be allowed).
