Team Rainey of Southern California made a strong showing in the Rose Cup tournament in Portland Oregon, coming within 3 outs of defeating eventual winner Victoria Fineline in their opening round robin game Saturday.  Rainey took a 4-2 lead into the seventh, but a 2 run homer for Fineline tied the scored, who then scored one more in the 7th for a 5-4 win -- and heartbreaking loss for Rainey.

Rainey bounced back, though, defeating Bodle Chiropractice of Seattle, 4-3, and CR/Adidas of Portland, Oregon, 5-2, to finish the round robin portion of the tournment with a 2-1 record, good for a #3 seed in the ten team tourney.
