you guessed Fred Hanker, player/manager of the Long Beach Black Sox,
you're right. After playing at Lakewood High School (as a
teammate of former major leaguer Craig Grebeck) and at Cal State Dominguez,
Fred was drafted by the Oakland A's where he played pro baseball for the
Madison Muskies in Madison
Wisconsin, as shown in his baseball card at left. Fred played 4
years in the Oakland A's organization, and many years
with The Stout Tower Stars, Captain Dan's and Blazers Men's
Fastpitch Teams. After a 6 year layoff, Fred got the bug back and decided to
start his own team consisting of old friends, former teammates and
opponents.
