Behind the Plate<\/strong>

PICTOU, NOVA SCOTIA- Standing behind home plate Sonny Campbell can see a game of baseball clearly in front of him and everything running smoothly. It’s one of his favourite places. Campbell, of Durham, with his fellow umpire Fred McCarthy, of Pictou, will spend this weekend umpping in Halifax at the International Softball Congress qualifying tournament for the 2011 World Tournament in August.<\/p>\n

“It’s high stakes stuff,” said Campbell. “You are on your toes from the start of the tournament to the very end, from the very first pitch to the last pitch, you have to be on your game.”<\/p>\n
