In the first game of a double header \u00a0featuring the touring New Zealand
\nBlack Sox, Ryan French, starting pitcher for the KW Cubs was \u00a0the
\nlightning in the opening game. <\/p>\n

French of New Dundee, threw a 7 inning \u00a0shutout for the Cubs against the powerful New Zealand Black Sox, facing 30 batters, allowing no runs, on 6 hits and 7 strikeouts. At \u00a0the plate Dan Mitchel had 3 RBIs to lead the local fastball team to a 5 – 0 win. <\/p>\n

Lightning shortened the second game in the top of the 3rd inning. \u00a0This
\ntime against an All \u00a0Star team \u00a0of Tri County All Stars, \u00a0the New Zealand squad took a 3 – 0 lead on a towering 300 foot 3 run homer \u00a0to
\ncentre left field by Wayne Laulou, the designated player.<\/p>\n

Campbell Makea followed that homer with a triple that he tried to
\nstretch to a home run but was out in a run down at 3rd…then the rain
\ncame down, the thunder threat turned to lightning and the fans, players and umps headed for cover…leaving the Tri County AllStars with no opportunity to catch up. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Both the KW Cubs and the New Zealand Black Sox \u00a0play Thursday night at Peter Hallman Ball Yard in Kitchener, opening the 8th edition of \u00a0the 4
\nday \u00a0Legends of Fastball Tournament \u00a0in Kitchener.<\/p>\n

Game one…7pm…New Dundee<\/p>\n

French faced 30 batters, allowing zero runs. on 6 hits, got 7 Ks and allowed 4
\nwalks to the Black Sox<\/p>\n

Dan Mitchell the Ciubs 2nd baseman had a 3 RBI triple to lead the Cubs to the win…Adam Hiller, Travis Hofstetter, and Nate Bauman also had triples..RBIs to French (3) Brad Thomson and Travis Hofstetter, one each.<\/p>\n

Jerome Raymacki led the Black Sox with 3 singles.<\/p>\n

The blue crew, first rate, Paul Baier, Stratford, Mitch Zuk, Erin and Lou Davis from Truro Nova Scotia<\/p>\n

In the rain shortened second game the Black Sox were held off the scoreboard for 2 innings. The Black Sox put jerome Heretuku, Tyron Bartorillo on board with a single, and a double before the Laulau homer…<\/p>\n

and then the rains came….<\/p>\n
