With pitching standout Adam Folkard sidelined for the tournament with a shoulder injury, hard throwing right hander Donnie Scott continued to rack innings for the #1 ranked Jarvis Travelers, stepping up big, with a hard fought 3-2 win over # 3 ranked Chicago\/NY and Andrew Kirkpatrick. Scott was a key acquisition from former rival Kitchener Rivershark Twins, which shuttered their operations after many years. Friday night, it was New Zealand veterans Brad Rona and Donnie Hale coming up big. Rona staked Jarvis to a 2-0 lead in the fourth with a two-run double, following singles by Freddie Terkelson and last year’s MVP, Nick Shailes. <\/p>\n

Chicago\/NY came right back to tie the game in the 5th on a two run home run by Steve Mullaley. Veteran Todd Schultz tripled after the home run, but Jarvis pitcher Don Scott got the final two outs on a strikeout and ground out. <\/p>\n

The game winning run scored in the 5th when Jarvis’ Freddie Terkelson doubled, Rona was intentionally walked, Ian Fehrman hit by a pitch to load the bases. Donny Hale then hit a hard smash off of the third baseman’s glove, with the winning run coming home to score. <\/p>\n

Jarvis will await the outcome of the 2pm game today, to see who their 7pm Championship game opponent will be. (Winner of Saskatoon\/Albaugh vs. Chicago NY)<\/p>\n
