Last week, we posted the video of the 1992 ISC World Tournament television broadcast. In our continuing efforts to preserve and share some of the history of the game, this week, we are pleased to post the schedules (and standings) from the Western Softball Congress, circa 1968-1978. <\/p>\n

The latest addition to the Fastpitchwest “Archives” are the Western Softball Congress schedules from 1968-1978, courtesy of our good friend Allan Ruegsegger, former sponsor of the Culver City team that played in that era, as well as the more modern day Long Beach Painters teams of the 1990’s. Allan managed to salvage a good bit of Long Beach Nitehawk memorabilia which we hope to add to the archives over time.<\/p>\n

The Western Softball Congress played in Southern California for many years, until the early 1990’s, and was one of the premier leagues around, sending its league champion to the ISC World Tournament. To put it mildy, the competition for that top spot was a dogfight.<\/p>\n

The Western Softball Congress was once described by former WSC president as the “greatest league in the country”. Boasting the likes of World Champions Long Beach Nitehawks, Camarillo Kings, as well as the Lakewood Jets, it’s hard to argue with him. (Milt was a catcher for the Long Beach Nitehawks and later served as the Executive Director of the ISC)<\/p>\n
