\"\"<\/a>Tan, Rostenhausler and Mayson Shine in Win<\/strong><\/p>\n

The California A’s survived a close one Thursday morning at the ISC World Tournament in Midland, Michigan, 2-1 over the Scarborough Force of Canada. Starter Sean Whitten threw an inning and a third, while Derek Mayson picked up the win, going the rest of the way surrendering just one run on two hits. One of those hits was a home run by tough luck loser, Andy Skelton.<\/p>\n

The A’s pushed across a run in the third and fourth inning, and made it stand up for the win. In the 3rd, A’s catcher Bob Rostenhausler led off the inning with a solo home run. Marcus Tan drove in what proved to be the winning run an inning later after Blake Miller was hit by a pitch with two outs, and scored on Tan’s hit.<\/p>\n

Skelton’s home run for Scarborough came in the sixth with nobody aboard. A’s pitcher Derek Mayson quieted the Force’s bats by striking out the next two batters, then finishing with a 1-2-3 seventh inning.<\/p>\n

The A’s will play the Toronto Gators at 12noon eastern time (9am on the west coast) Friday.
