The top five teams will qualify for the World Games in New Zealand in March, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>After a gruelling selection process which took place over the last three months, a very young team was selected, although it does include a few veterans.<\/p>\n<p>The Pan Am Qualifier will include the United States, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Cuba, Aruba, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, US Virgin Islands, Honduras, Panama, Belize, El Salvador and Nicaragua.<\/p>\n<p>The team will be managed by Godfrey \u201cGully\u201d Burnside, and coaches Martin \u201cPork\u201d Burrows and Perry Seymour. Steven \u201cGarbo\u201d Coakley is the chef de mission.<\/p>\n<p>BSF president Burket Dorsett said this team has the ability to contend because of its young talent and the experience of its coaching staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe expectations are set high for this team. This team is young, but it is also very talented and will be under the guidance of three internationally certified softball coaches in the men\u2019s division,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis team is the best the federation could put together with some of the best players from around the country. The selection process was a rigorous one, and the committee feels confident that this team going forward can get the Bahamas to the pinnacle of softball internationally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s national team that will represent the Bahamas at the English Caribbean Amateur Softball (ECAS) Championship in Belize was also ratified.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time, ECAS is scheduled to host an inter-confederation event, the ECAS Ladies Championship, November 28 to December 2 in Belize.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the event will qualify for the 2013 World Games in Cali, Colombia.<\/p>\n<p>The executives and coaches of the BSF have travelled to a number of Family Islands scouting talent for the national teams in order to get a full representation of the Bahamas.<\/p>\n<p>According to BSF executives, the team travelled to Grand Bahama, Exuma, Eleuthera, Abaco and Andros.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Bahamas Softball Federation is trying its best to make these rounds to ensure that we have the best softball players the country has to offer to be a part of these national teams,\u201d added Burnside.<\/p>\n<p>The ISF, in March of this year at the CONPASA meeting in Valencia, Venezuela, announced that each of its confederations \u2013 the Africans, Americas, Asian, European, Oceania and English Caribbean \u2013 will stage their respective women\u2019s championship with the winners competing at the World Games.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the start of the championship in Belize, Canada will conduct coaches and pitchers certification clinics for the English Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>The ECAS second congress will take place in Belize November 27 presided over by president Burket Dorsett, ISF president Don Porter and ISF vice president for ECAS, Romell Knowles.<\/p>\n<p>The Bahamas team would be managed by Mario Ford and the coaches are Lenny Newton and Spurgeon Johnson.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nMen\u2019s National Team For Pan Am<\/p>\n<p>Championship \/ World Qualifier<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nAdney Bethell<\/p>\n<p>Alcott Forbes<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Davis<\/p>\n<p>Fred Cornish<\/p>\n<p>Angelo Dillett<\/p>\n<p>Garfield Bethell<\/p>\n<p>Ken Wood<\/p>\n<p>Greg Gardiner<\/p>\n<p>Hosea Hilton<\/p>\n<p>Wayne Johnson<\/p>\n<p>Marvin Wood<\/p>\n<p>Richard Bain<\/p>\n<p>Sherman Ferguson<\/p>\n<p>Jamal Johnson<\/p>\n<p>Martin Burrows Jr.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Sweeting<\/p>\n<p>Larmar Watkins\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Women\u2019s National Team<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nChampionship\/World Games Qualifier<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nMary Edgecombe-Sweeting<\/p>\n<p>Shonnell Symonette<\/p>\n<p>Thela Johnson<\/p>\n<p>Desiree Coakley<\/p>\n<p>Marvell Miller<\/p>\n<p>Breshante Darius<\/p>\n<p>Marissa Burrows<\/p>\n<p>Thara Evans<\/p>\n<p>Larikan Russell<\/p>\n<p>Teshenna Pinder<\/p>\n<p>Trica Monroe<\/p>\n<p>Shavette Taylor<\/p>\n<p>Nerissa Seymour<\/p>\n<p>Candice Smith<\/p>\n<p>Tricee Curry<\/p>\n<p>Latheria Brown<\/p>\n<p>Rokell Cooper\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cap tip Blair Setford.
