With the ISC World Fastball championship tournament in nearby<br \/>\nKitchener next year&#8230;this is a big event to win for one of these teams..<\/p>\n<p>Games begin on Friday nite&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Breslau RiverDogs of the South Perth League..vs the KFL Tri City Jays<\/p>\n<p>Woodstock Kelsey&#8217;s vs Selkirk Steelers<\/p>\n<p>Walton Brewers vs the host club..Wellington Sox,<\/p>\n<p>Lake Simcoe Lightning, vs Brampton A&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p>Diamond Jazz of the Kitchener Fastball League..vs the Mildmay Mets<\/p>\n<p>Elmira Expos another South Perth League team up against the Ponsonby<br \/>\nSting, InterCounty champs<\/p>\n<p>Wiarton Nationals and Sheddon Mission have the first round byes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Games will continue all day Saturday in Palmerston&#8230;with Championship<br \/>\nplay on Sunday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It looks like a great weekend&#8230;Palmerston is a nice drive north of<br \/>\nKitchener, Elmira and Drayton&#8230;There will be food and beverages<br \/>\navailable..and it looks like a great weekend to bring the ball season to<br \/>\na close&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ISC LEGENDS AND UNDER 21 results &#8211; Moline Illinois<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tavistock went 0 for 4 in pool play.  Elmira 37s went 1 and 3..<\/p>\n<p>Tavistock got their first win of the tournament against Elmira a 4 &#8211; 1<br \/>\nscore&#8230;.<br \/>\nAlvinston then beat Tavi&#8230;.12 &#8211; 10, and Midland Mich, over Wiarton Red<br \/>\nDevils 9 &#8211; 4, to set up the final Alvinston Indians vs Midland&#8230;..and<br \/>\nthe Jr. Explorers came out on top&#8230;3 &#8211; 0<\/p>\n<p>Lots of issues with the ISC U21s&#8230;short staffed teams, eligible players<br \/>\nunavailable for the junior teams while their senior teams were on the<br \/>\nfield&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It was a long and very competitive summer for most of the teams and<br \/>\nplayers out of Ontario..<\/p>\n<p>Eight teams competed in the ISC Canada East championship at Kitchener in<br \/>\nJune. That was followed immediately with the 5 day long Ontario Amatuer<br \/>\nSoftball championships in Owen Sound&#8230;an Softball Ontario  try out camp<br \/>\nin New Dundee took up another weekend&#8230;, the ISF tournament for many of<br \/>\nthe Ontario players in Saskatchewan, another week long<br \/>\ntournament&#8230;followed by the Softball Canada championships back in Owen<br \/>\nSound, another 5 day tournament&#8230;&#8230;and then off to the ISCs.  Many of<br \/>\nthese players also participated with their local intermediate teams in<br \/>\nleague play and tournaments.  A lot of ball, and the scores and play in<br \/>\nMoline reflected that&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ISC II AWARDS &#8211; Quad Cities..<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Andy Jackson of Wiarton picked up one of the 3 All Tournament Team<br \/>\nPitcher awards and Most Outstanding Pitcher award as well.<\/p>\n<p>Jamie Boyd of Shakespeare, Brent Thompson of Wiarton and Jeff Bassindale<br \/>\nof Hickson Reds were All &#8211; Tournament infielders&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Adam Struck of Wiarton picked up one of the 4 outfield All Tournament<br \/>\nnominations&#8230;and teammate, Travis Jones picked up the Designated Player<br \/>\naward&#8230;posting 10 RBIs&#8230;<br \/>\nSteffen Walma of the Wyevale Tribe was top batter&#8230;a .538 average..<\/p>\n<p><strong>CANADIANS IN STRATFORD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3 Cheers Pub won the Canadian Fastpitch tournament in Stratford..<\/p>\n<p>3 Cheers&#8230;.defeated Scarborough Force 5 &#8211; 4 in the Canadian<br \/>\nchampionship game.<\/p>\n<p>They scored those 5 runs on 8 hits&#8230;Scarborough picked up their 4 runs<br \/>\non 2 hits&#8230;both homers..<\/p>\n<p>Scarborough got out to an early 2 &#8211; 0 lead in the 3rd inning&#8230;..a walk<br \/>\nto Jake Taylor, and a Craig Buttar 2 run homer off Sean Cleary.<\/p>\n<p>In the home half of the  3rd inning&#8230;Ryan  Boland reached with a<br \/>\nsingle&#8230;and was scored by Jason Gill&#8230;2 &#8211; 1 Scarborough<\/p>\n<p>Ian Fehrman doubled and a 2 run homer from Jason Hill put 3 Cheers in<br \/>\nfront..3-2 after 4 innings..<\/p>\n<p>Scarborough &#8230;a walk to Buttar and a 2 run homer from Brandon Horn&#8230;4<br \/>\n&#8211; 3 for the Force after 5 1\/2&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Steve Mullaley scored in the 6th to tiem the game&#8230;and Brad Ezekiel a<br \/>\nwalk off homer to lead off the bottom of the 7th&#8230;game over and a<br \/>\nsecond Canadian championship for 3 Cheers&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day..the Kitchener Cubs defeated Don Cherry&#8217;s 5  &#8211; 3.<\/p>\n<p>Don Cherry&#8217;s opened with a lead off homer from Pokoway..<\/p>\n<p>Dale Levy and Ben Wideman scored for the Cubs in the 2nd&#8230;Red with a<br \/>\nhomer and Ben a triple and scored by Mike Grant&#8230;that put the Cubs back<br \/>\nin the lead.<\/p>\n<p>The Cubs scored one run in the 3rd&#8230;Adam Hiller a triple, and Rowan Lam<br \/>\nanother triple to score Hiller..in the 4th&#8230;Ben Wideman a solo home run&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>John Kelly and Brian Clark scored for Don Cherry&#8217;s in the 4th&#8230;4 &#8211; 3<br \/>\nCubs&#8230;going into the 7th&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Ben Wideman a double and scored by Allen Phibbs&#8230;final  Cubs 5 &#8211; Don<br \/>\nCherry&#8217;s 3.<\/p>\n<p>The Cubs then met Scarborough..the winner to play 3 Cheers in the<br \/>\nchampionship game&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Scarborough opened in the first&#8230;one run&#8230;Brandon Horn 2 bagger&#8230;and<br \/>\nAndy Skelton a 3B RBI&#8230;<br \/>\nIn the 2nd&#8230;Mark Johnston a 2 bagger, and Jake Taylor a RBI single.<\/p>\n<p>Cubs got on board in the 2nd&#8230;tying the game&#8230;Grant Baechler and<br \/>\nTravis Hofstetter. scoring on Adam Hillers RBIS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>In the 3rd&#8230;Scarborough picked up 3 runs..Brandon Horn a single..Andy<br \/>\nSkelton a triple and RBI, Jeremy Tracey a double and RBI and Dave<br \/>\nBrownhill a RBI single&#8230;5 &#8211; 3 Scarborough Force&#8230;after 3..<\/p>\n<p>A scoreless 4th&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Scarborough homered to 9 &#8211; 3 lead after 4 1\/2&#8230;Jeremy Tracey<br \/>\nwalked&#8230;Andrew Scott a 2 run homer followed by back to back homers from<br \/>\nMark Johnson, and Dave Brownhill.<\/p>\n<p>Cubs 3rd baseman, Dan Mitchell homered in the 5th..9 &#8211; 4 Force ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Skelton picked up another RBI with a double scoring Nick Dambrosio..<\/p>\n<p>Nothing in the 6th&#8230;for  the Cubs&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>and nothing in the 7th for the Force<\/p>\n<p>The home half of the 7th&#8230;and Cubs lead off with a homer from Rowan<br \/>\nLam&#8230;Bob Gillow singles, Dan Mitchell doubles, both score on  Red<br \/>\nLevy&#8217;s single.  ..<\/p>\n<p>Final score for the semi final&#8230;Force 10 and Cubs 7&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to 3 Cheers on the gold,  Scarborough who picked up the<br \/>\nsilver..and the Cubs who picked up the bronze&#8230;3 great ball<br \/>\nteams&#8230;tops in Canada..<\/p>\n<p>See you in Palmerston this weekend..<\/p>\n<p>-Dennis Dosman<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ONTARIO CHALLENGE CUP IN PALMERSTON &#8211; Fastball Fans, The Laverne Reichert OCC will bring an end to the fastpitch season &#8230;.
