{"id":23779,"date":"2014-07-04T14:00:03","date_gmt":"2014-07-04T21:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fastpitchwest.com\/?p=23779"},"modified":"2014-07-04T14:00:03","modified_gmt":"2014-07-04T21:00:03","slug":"18-year-old-catcher-selected-for-international-tournament-in-singapore-aug-12-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fastpitchwest.com\/?p=23779","title":{"rendered":"18-year-old catcher selected for international tournament in Singapore &#8211; Aug 12-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.themorningbulletin.com.au\/news\/catcher-of-the-day-open-mens-asian-softball-tourna\/2307790\/\">From the Morning Bulletin<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>By Joe Mcconnell <\/em><\/p>\n<p>ROCKHAMPTON&#8217;S Dan Giles has only been playing softball for five years but he&#8217;s already received a call that may change his young playing career.<\/p>\n<p>Make that an email, actually.<\/p>\n<p>The 18-year-old catcher has been selected to take part in the Open Men&#8217;s Asian International Softball Tournament as a representative for the Australian Development Team.<\/p>\n<p>While thrilled to get the nod to wear the renowned green and gold, Giles certainly wasn&#8217;t anticipating his name to be called upon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I received an email from the team telling me I had been selected,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m very, very excited.
