{"id":27672,"date":"2015-06-26T12:07:33","date_gmt":"2015-06-26T19:07:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fastpitchwest.com\/?p=27672"},"modified":"2015-06-26T12:07:33","modified_gmt":"2015-06-26T19:07:33","slug":"australia-chases-gold-at-isf-mens-world-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fastpitchwest.com\/?p=27672","title":{"rendered":"Australia chases gold at ISF Men&#8217;s World Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.canberratimes.com.au\/sport\/act-sport\/australia-chases-gold-at-isf-mens-world-championships-20150626-ghxhc4\" target=\"_blank\">From the Canberra Times:<\/a><br \/>\nThe disappointment of a 2-0 semi-final loss to Venezuela in 2013 is still fresh in the minds of Australian players as they chase world championship glory in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>And it&#8217;s why Canberra pitcher Adam Folkard says anything less than a championship victory would be considered a failure when the tournament begins on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have come here to win,&#8221; Folkard said. &#8220;We lost the title last time round in New Zealand and that was on our own backs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have all taken it pretty hard since then so hopefully this time around we can turn the tables.&#8221;<br \/>\nAdvertisement<\/p>\n<p>Canberra is well represented in the men&#8217;s side with four ACT players and two coaches selected in the squad.<\/p>\n<p>The selections confirm Canberra&#8217;s strong presence in the Australian softball scene, and Folkard believes Canberra could have had more players in the squad.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have always had a pretty good number of ACT guys in the Aussie team, we have always had a lot of depth in the ACT and it&#8217;s really shown here,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We probably have two others that would have made the team but couldn&#8217;t make it, one due to work and the other because of semi-retirement.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Folkard was alsooptimistic about the future of softball in Canberra.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canberratimes.com.au\/sport\/act-sport\/australia-chases-gold-at-isf-mens-world-championships-20150626-ghxhc4\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to read the complete article at the Canberra Times<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the Canberra Times: The disappointment of a 2-0 semi-final loss to Venezuela in 2013 is still fresh in the minds of Australian players as they chase world championship glory in Canada.
