Editor’s note:<\/strong> Is there a better known person in the game than Michael White. One of the greatest to ever put on a uniform, and has continued that level of succcess in his NCAA Women’s coaching career. I first saw Michael pitch at the 1989 ISC World Tournament and again at the 2003 Rose Cup Tournament. In ’03, he was coming off of the ISC World title for St. Joe Frontier Casino. A true gentleman and ambassador of the game. Nice to see the ASA honoring him Saturday.<\/p>\n

Oregon softball coach Mike White will be honored for his accomplishments as a fast-pitch player, when he is inducted into the ASA\/USA National Softball Hall of Fame on Saturday in Oklahoma City<\/p>\n

White, an accomplished pitcher on the men\u2019s softball circuit, joins Anderson in the 2015 ASA induction class.<\/p>\n

After pitching for the national team in his native New Zealand, White became a U.S. citizen in 1994 and played 11 years with Team USA, helping the U.S. claim three silver medals in the Pan American Games and a bronze medal at the International Softball Federation world championship before retiring in 2008.<\/p>\n

White also was a three-time national champion and nine-time all-American in the men\u2019s major division of ASA\/USA softball. He\u2019s entering his sixth season at Oregon, where he has won three Pac-12 titles and appeared in the Women\u2019s College World Series three times.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an incredible honor to be inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame,\u201d White said, noting that he will be enshrined alongside Steve Padilla, another standout pitcher from the USA Softball Men\u2019s National Team. \u201cI have a lot of people to thank \u2014 past coaches, managers and teammates \u2014 who have all made this possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
