\nFinished second with the USA Softball Men’s National Team at the ISF Men’s World Cup in Prague – was 1-0 allowing only two runs while fanning seven<\/p>\n

\nWhat it means to represent the United States: <\/strong>It’s a big honor being part of the USA Softball program for such a long time and each and every time I get to put those letters across my chest it brings me great pride
\nWhat do you enjoy most about softball?\u00a0<\/strong>I love the pace of the game and the challenges the game has to offer mentally and physically
\nHow did you get started in softball?\u00a0<\/strong>My father strated me when I was young, and I grew up at the softball fields watching him play.<\/p>\n

Editor’s note:<\/strong> \u00a0I first saw B.J. pitch in 2005, when he was a 15 year old with the USA Jr. Men’s team, competing at a local So Cal tournament in Ramona, CA, getting ready to head to Prince Edward Island for the 2005 ISF World Championship. \u00a0Local So Cal standout (and current USA team member) Kevin Castillo was also with that 2005 Jr. Men’s squad. \u00a0Pitching for Australia’s Jr. Men in that one? None other than Adam Folkard.<\/p>\n

Three years later, B.J. was on of the veteran leaders on the USA Jr. Men’s squad when they competed at the 2008 ISF Jr. Men’s World Championship. The location for that tournament? Whitehorse, Yukon. \u00a0The last game that B.J. pitched for that USA Jr. Men’s team in Whitehorse was the final round robin game, against eventual silver medal winning Team Canada. \u00a0Kyle Smith and I broadcast that game and the medal round, on Ballpark Radio. At the end of regulation, it was still 0-0. \u00a0Canada squeaked out a run and the win, but B.J. turned in his best performance of the tournament in that game. \u00a0Now, 9 years later, B.J. finds himself headed back to familiar territory — the pitcher’s circle at Whitehorse.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
