Scott was a standout among standouts in his day, and will be missed by  the large community of fast pitch fans in the Decatur Illinois area as well as  others around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a class=\"\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/herald-review.com\/lifestyles\/hall-of-famer-david-scott-has-deep-resume\/article_472a3f54-7ac7-57a9-ad99-1ba68882a695.html\" target=\"_blank\">Scott was inducted into the ASA\u2019s National Hall of Fame in 2005<\/a>, having won 595 games pitching for Decatur (ADM and the  Pride) and was named the U.S. Olympic  Sportsman of the Year in 1982.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A \nnative of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, he pitched in 11 U.S. Olympic \nFestivals and helped pitch the United States to the 1988 International \nSoftball Federation championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> MARK TUPPER of the Herald &amp; Review covered Scott&#8217;s teams in their heyday, and has a touching tribute column, published yesterday.  <a href=\"https:\/\/herald-review.com\/news\/local\/tupper-david-scooter-scott-brought-glory-to-decatur-in-fastpitch\/article_1e33e4af-d5a7-5f3d-99a6-ae9a7f67ca62.html\">Read it here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>David Scott, pitcher for ADM\/Pride, Decatur, IL in their glory days in the 1980&#8217;s passed away Wednesday night at his home in Decatur, Illinois, at the age of 62.
