I see Jordan Pomeroy<\/strong> among the names on this roster. We recently noted the impressive season the youngster from Placentia, Newfoundland had in the St. John’s Senior Men’s League<\/a>, playing for Kelly\u2019s Pub Molson Bulldogs (KPMB). Due to the youth of these players, (and well, covid closing things down for the past couple years), many of us outside of Canada have not seen or heard much about them yet. Would enjoy reading more about them from those of you in Canada. What can you tell us about these up-and-coming young players? (Comment below, or on Twitter and Facebook). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A great coaching staff, covering most regions from east to west. Dean Holoien<\/strong> will no doubt provide the young pitchers (not to mention hitters) on the team with the tools to succeed. Holoien of course, had Hall of Fame career and starred for Canada’s Men’s National team. More about Dean from our prior posts at Fastpitchwest here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Gilles Leblanc, Softball Canada<\/a>:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ottawa, Ont.\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Softball Canada and the U23 Men\u2019s National Team coaching staff are pleased to announce the Team Canada roster that will compete at the 2022 U23 Men\u2019s Pan American Championship. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Colombia in December but has been postponed to the spring of 2022 in a yet to be determined location. More information is expected following the WBSC Americas Congress later this month.

The athletes were selected by the coaching staff \u2013 consisting of head coach\u00a0Doug Allin<\/strong>\u00a0(Peachland, B.C.) and assistant coaches\u00a0Dean Holoien<\/strong>\u00a0(Melfort, Sask.) and\u00a0Mark Quinn<\/strong>\u00a0(Mermaid, P.E.I.) \u2013 following a selection camp in Saskatoon last weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are extremely excited to work with an exceptional group of athletes from across Canada\u201d said Allin. \u201cWe had five open provincial camps and the Rawlings Grand Slam Championship to identify athletes for the final selection camp last weekend. It was a very busy weekend with 24 athletes competing for 16 spots on the roster. This team will have a combination of great speed, defense and will be tough to play against with its deep pitching staff.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n


 
The Pan American Championship will serve as a qualifier for the inaugural 2022 WBSC U23 Men\u2019s Softball World Cup that will take place in the fall of 2022 in Parana, Argentina. The top four finishers from the Pan American Championship \u2013 along with the host country of Argentina \u2013 will advance to the World Cup.
