Following a diligent recruitment process, Softball Australia is pleased to announce the appointment Peter Rainer (NSW) and Scott Sunley (QLD<\/strong>) as Assistant Coaches for the 2022 Under-23 World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Softball Australia is also pleased to confirm the appointment of Jamie Barrington (NSW)<\/strong> as Team Manager and Tony Jackson (NSW)<\/strong> as Video Analyst for the Under 23 Men\u2019s Team. Tony has gathering video footage of athletes at the Open Men & Under 23 Nationals, and Softball Australia congratulates Tony on his appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter, Scott, Jamie, and Tony will join forces with Head Coach David Metekingi for Australia\u2019s first ever WBSC Under 23 World Cup campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Softball Australia CEO Rosie Williams OBE said, \u201cBoth Peter and Scott impressed during the 2022 National Championships, coaching their teams to the Open Men\u2019s and Under 23 Men\u2019s titles respectively. Jamie\u2019s previous experience and sports background also made him the ideal candidate for Team Manager, and it\u2019s exciting to see the inaugural Under 23 Men\u2019s team coming together as we prepare for the World Cup in Argentina later this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Softball Australia is pleased to announce the 2022 Australian Men\u2019s Under-23 Squad, ahead of the U23 Men\u2019s World Cup in Argentina later this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selection took place at the conclusion of the Under 23 and Open Men\u2019s National Championships in Canberra and Melbourne last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head Coach David Metekingi was pleased with the overall depth and talent on display at the Nationals, which provided selectors with a strong athlete pool to draw from, saying \u201cI am excited with the 32 athletes we\u2019ve identified for selection, and I look forward to working with each one of them as we move towards selecting our first-ever Australian Men\u2019s Under 23 World Cup Team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is anticipated the Australian team for the Under 23 Men\u2019s World Cup will be announced mid-June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
