From the Official Softball Canada Website<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Ottawa, Ont. <\/strong>\u2013 Softball Canada and the Men\u2019s National Team coaching staff are pleased to announce the Canadian Men\u2019s National Team roster that will compete at the 2022 WBSC Men\u2019s Softball World Cup from November 26 to December 4 in Auckland, New Zealand.
\u201cThis has been the most difficult final roster to choose to date for our coaching staff\u201d stated Men\u2019s National Team Head Coach John Stuart<\/strong>. \u201cWe are very excited with this group of highly talented athletes chosen to represent Canada at WBSC World Cup in New Zealand. Our staff feels this lineup will give us best opportunity to get back on top of the podium.\u201d
Softball Canada previously announced<\/a> ten (10) core players to the Men\u2019s National Team in July 2022 and has added six (6) athletes from the athlete pool to complete the roster. The athletes joining Team Canada are Ryan Boland<\/strong> (St. John\u2019s, N.L.), Quinten Bruce<\/strong> (Grand Valley, Ont.), Cory Jones<\/strong> (Leduc, Alta.), Justin Laskowski<\/strong> (Warman, Sask.), Tyler Pauli<\/strong> (Mitchell, Ont.) and Justin Schofield<\/strong> (Grand Pre, N.S.).
The coaching staff made their selections after scouting at the 2022 Men\u2019s Canadian Championship in St. John\u2019s, N.L. and other major events held throughout the year.
Canada is currently ranked No. 3 in the WBSC World Rankings, and qualified for the WBSC World Cup with a silver-medal performance at the 2022 WBSC Americas Pan American Championship held April 24-30 in Parana, Argentina. The red and white has won the bronze medal at the last two WBSC Men\u2019s Softball World Cups held in 2017 and 2019, and won gold at the event in 2015.
The Canadian squad will travel to New Zealand 10 days early and compete in a Tradestaff World Cup Warm-Up Tournament November 18-20 in Palmerston North.<\/p>\n\n\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/www.fastpitchwest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/canada_softball_logo.png\"){kind=logo}
