The New Zealand Black Sox emerged victorious over the NY Gremlins in a closely contested game on Saturday afternoon, winning by a score of 4-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gremlins struck first in the bottom of the 1st inning when L Retamar singled to drive in M Roy. The Black Sox evened the score in the top of the 2nd when J Raemaki came home on a passed ball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The score remained tied 1-1 until the top of the 4th, when the Black Sox took a 2-1 lead as B Enoka scored on another passed ball. However, the Gremlins wouldn’t go down easily. In the bottom of the 6th, E Ochoa ripped an RBI double to bring home L Retamar and knot the game at 2-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pivotal moment came in the top of the 7th inning. With runners on the corners and two outs, B Bishop delivered a clutch 2-RBI double to right field, scoring both C Evans and H Monk. This gave the Black Sox a 4-2 advantage that they would not relinquish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interestingly, three of the NY Gremlins’ regular starting lineup – third baseman Jerome Raemaki, shortstop Cole Evans and centerfielder Ben Enoka – suited up with their national team, the New Zealand Black Sox, along with Tane Mumu, as members of the opposition in this tournament. (All three had a hit in the game. The Black Sox are currently in Saskatoon, preparing for next week’s WBSC World Cup Qualifier (Group B) <\/strong>in Prince Albert, Canada. New Zealand pitcher Daniel Chapman, who earned the save in today’s game, is also a new addition to the NY Gremlins 2024 roster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Late Score Costs NY Gremlins After Late Charge From New Zealand Black Sox 24<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NY Gremlins stayed in it until the end, but New Zealand Black Sox 24 pulled away late in a 4-2 victory on Saturday. The game was tied at two in the top of the seventh when Beau Bishop<\/strong> doubled, scoring two runs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A single by Lucio Retamar<\/strong> put NY Gremlins on the board in the bottom of the first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Zealand Black Sox 24 scored on a passed ball, which helped New Zealand Black Sox 24 tie the game at one in the top of the second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An error gave New Zealand Black Sox 24 the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fourth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erick Ochoa<\/strong> doubled, which helped NY Gremlins tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pita Rona<\/strong> earned the win for New Zealand Black Sox 24. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out two and walking three. Jack Besgrove took the loss for NY Gremlins. The reliever went three and one-third innings, giving up two runs on two hits, striking out eight and walking one. Kuba Osi?ka led things off in the circle for NY Gremlins. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and two runs (zero earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking none.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ochoa, Retamar, and Blaine Milheim each collected one hit for NY Gremlins. Ochoa and Retamar each drove in one run for NY Gremlins. Retamar paced NY Gremlins with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bishop went 1-for-1 at the plate as the infielder led the team with two runs batted in. Hohepa Monk, New Zealand Black Sox 24’s number seven hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats. New Zealand Black Sox 24 turned one double play in the game. New Zealand Black Sox 24 didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cole Evans had the most chances in the field with six.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up for NY Gremlins is a game at Saskatoon Jacks 24 on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
