The 165.3km stage from Ennezat saw a large breakaway of 29 riders form early, whittled down to an elite group over eight categorized climbs.

Yates outpaced Thymen Arensman (Ineos Grenadiers), who finished second, while Ben Healy (EF Education-EasyPost) took third and seized the yellow jersey from Tadej PogaCar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), who finished over four minutes back.

The stage featured intense General Classification (GC) battles, with PogaCar and Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) trading attacks on the final climbs, though they gained only six seconds on rivals like Remco Evenepoel (Soudal-QuickStep).
