The Portland DeMarini Merchants started their 9th season this year.   For the first eight years they were simpy the Portland Merchants.  This year DeMarini was added as they became one of our sponsors.  We are proud to have them as our major sponsor and several members of the team helped test their new "Venum" bat at their Hillsboro, Oregon facility.

This year the team added: Kevin Careless (P) and Kevin MacEachern (OF) from Canada and three Argentinians:  Roberto Bahler (P), Santiago Lataire (C-OF) and Andres Gamarci (2B/OF).    Also new additions from Portland include: Rob Broberg (1B) and Brett Breece (INF/OF).

Kevin Careless (pictured at left) and Roberto Bahler have both thrown very well for the team this year.  We are waiting for our hitting to return...

The squad plays in the ISC affiliated Norwest League and is currently in second place with an 8-4 record.  We played in the Red Rock and Vegas Tournaments going 2-2 in each.  We have had several injuries and lost Roberto for 3-4 weeks, but are ready for a  "big roll" for the second half.  We will play in the Victoria and Vancouver BC tournaments after the Rose Cup and are hopeful for ISC and/or NAFA "AAA" and Majors at the end of the season.
