Association, DeMarini Sports, The Rose
Festival Association & the City
of Portland are real enthused about this
years INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT.
We have already received commitments from 13 teams and are hopeful of expanding
this years event to 16 teams.

In the event we can not field 16
teams (our goal), we will go with the first
12 teams to pay their entry fee.
St. Joseph, Victoria, Arizona and
Portland DeMarini are the teams
that have fees paid to date. Entry

We are thrilled to have the World
Champion Frontier Casino Players enter
this year's event with their star-studded
cast of players including eight
National Team Players. St.
Joe's Michael White (P) is also the pitching
coach at the University of Oregon
(women's softball) and doing an
outstanding job. Having
the defending World Champions along with most of
the top teams from California, Arizona,
Oregon, Washington and British
Columbia makes this years DeMarini
Rose Cup one of the top tournaments on
the West Coast this year.
Several other National Team players will be
playing for their respective teams
such as as Todd Garcia from Team Lyons as
well as numerous Canadian National
Team Players including last years MVP
Collin McKenzie from Victoria.

Format: 3 game round-robin
followed by single elimination on Sunday
Delta Sports Complex - Is a state-of-the-art
facility and is located off of
I-5 and exit #306 just two miles
south of the Columbia River. It is a
beautiful yard that under Ron Boley's
direction stays in top condition.

The Host Portand DeMarini Merchants
are really enthused about our
relationship with DeMarini Sports
and their involvement in the tournament.
Also, look for their new bat "The
Venom" -- a Men's fastball bat on the
market soon. The Portland
squad has added Kevin Careless (P) and Kevin
MacEachern (OF) from British Columbia,
Roberto Bahler (P), Santiago Lataire
(C-3B-OF) and Andres Garmarci (Inf)
from Argentina and Rob Broberg, a local
College baseball All-Star, to this
year's team. These additions shpuld give
the DeMarini Merchants a different
and hopefully, improved look for the
upcoming season. In addition,
Terry Smith returns after a two year absence
as head coach and Eddie Wilson will
serve as a player/asst.coach. Jim
Williamson returns as assistant
coach when available, and Tom Ree will
continue to be involved in numerous,
mainly off field, tasks and activities
for the team. We are
looking forward to a great and "FUN" Tournament.

***THE PORTLAND DeMARINI CLASSIC***
In addition to the DeMarini Rose
Cup listed above, there will be an eight
team NAFA Class "A" qualifier (DeMarini
Classic) held simultaneously on
adjacent fields to the Open Tourney.
Thus far we have 5 or 6 teams
committed to play including JRW
& Associates, Paolas, The Pirates, Limelight
& Cascade Courier. Space is
available for 8 teams. Entry Fee is $300.00.
