Editors note and update, April 5, 2013: Fifteen years ago Jeremy Spear’s award winning documentary film “Fastpitch” was well received by the worldwide community of Men’s Fastball enthusiasts. Dave Blackburn is well known throughout fastpitch as an innovator of original ideas to help promote the sport. Dave is raising funds to produce a documentary film about fastpitch softball, using the IndieGoGo Crowd Funding platform.
His online campaign has one week left. If you would like to see the movie get made, then consider sharing Dave’s passion for the project, watch his video, and determine if you would like to donate. The home page for the campaign is at:

It is always healthy for the sport to get as much exposure s possible. This film will go a long way to adding some much needed mainstream exposure for men fastpitch softball.

From Dave Blackburn
[February 26th 2013, Santa Monica, CA] – Today, Dave Blackburn launched the Crowd Funding Campaign, via the popular IndieGoGo.com platform. The objective of the campaign is to raise funds for the production of the proposed documentary film, “The King and Me”.
“It’s been over 15 years since my former teammate Jeremy Spear, surprised the worldwide fastpitch community, when he produced the seminal documentary film for our sport, Fastpitch – The Movie”, said Dave Blackburn, Producer of “The King and Me.” Blackburn continued, “We plan to capture the rhythm, and the unique culture of the sport of Men’s fastpitch softball. The movie will delve into two of the longest running Internationally traveling American fastpitch softball clubs, The 65 year run of The legendary King & His Court team, and the 27 years and counting stretch run of Maccabi USA.”
There is a 4 minute video, and lots of other info at the Crowd Funding Campaign’s Home Page.
Please view the video and hopefully you can donate and share the link on your own social networks.
On the top tabs, there is also a media gallery of photos and videos related to The King & Me” movie.
If you are passionate about Fastpitch softball, then you should donate and support the making of this movie. Day 1 of the Campaign went quite well with 21 individuals stepping up to the plate, and collectively pledging a total of $2,285. If this is the average daily pledge total for the 45 remaining days of the campaign, the total will just barely exceed the $100,000 goal, and the movie will be made. None of that will be possible without your help and participation.
