What if scenarios:
If the USA wins, and Japan wins, they both finish 6-3 and USA is # 3 and Japan # 4 since the USA beat Japan during pool play.
If the USA wins and Japan loses, USA is # 3 and Japan and Australia finish 5-4, and Japan would go as the # 4 as they beat Australia.
If the USA loses and Japan wins, Japan and Australia finish 6-3, Japan is # 3, Australia # 4 as Japan beat Australia in pool play.
If the USA loses and Japan loses, Australia is # 3, and USA and Japan would finish with 5-4 records and USA would go as # 4 since they beat Japan.
Need more ?
Mexico is 4-4, and plays New Zealand. If they win, they’d be 5-4 and in a three way tie if USA and Japan loses. My brain hurts and Mexico and New Zealand play at 4pm so I’m going to wait for that one.
Only 4 of the 10 teams qualify for the medal round, to be played over the weekend, the other 6 to a consolation bracket.
Catcher/DP Tyler Bouley (Champlin MN) is having a monstrous tournament, batting .448 (13 for 29) with 5 doubles, a HR and 7 RBI. Leadoff hitter Bryce DuCharme (Hudson, WI) is 11 for 26, batting .423 with 7 runs scored. Bouley and DuCharme rank 3rd and 4th in hits in the entire tournament.
Pitcher Phil Zimmerman (New Holland PA) leads the pitching staff with 3 wins, ranking second in the tournament in that department and is 6th overall in strikeouts with 33.
