Jeff Ellsworth is anxious.
The St. Lawrence native leaves today for Tavistock, Ont., where he will play two games tonight, Saturday and hopefully Sunday with his Hill United Chiefs club team.
He heads to Saskatoon, Sask., Monday to join Team Canada for the International Softball Federation (ISF) world championships. The team has exhibition games Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before starting the tournament on Friday.
“I just want to get there this weekend, put the bat on the ball, get a good feel and then roll into Saskatoon and get the tournament started,” he said Thursday, while taking a break from packing. “Right now the mindset is how to best prepare myself to get hot at the right time.”
Following the ISF tournament, Ellsworth will play with the national team at the Pan American Games in Ajax, Ont.
