The USA men’s national softball team on their final round Robin game in the 2015 WBSC men softball world championships at Saskatoon Canada on Thursday, defeating Denmark 9-2 in a six inning run rule victory.
Nate Devine led the way going 2 for 3, with four RBI including a triple while Chris Miljavic and Derrick Zechjan each homered as the USA pounded out 10 hits for the win. Miljavic drove in 3 runs. Josh Johnson picked up the win, Tossing a six hitter, while striking out nine. It was Johnson’s second victory of the tournament.
The USA came up one game short of qualifying for the 8 team medal round, and will move on now to the consolation tournament, played Friday through Sunday. The Squad came in with high hopes of Earning one of eight playoff berths among the 15 teams, and finished with a four and three record, the same as Japan.
However, because Japan beat the USA 5-4 in their head-to-head matchup, Japan grabbed the last playoff berth.
