Sunday was a day Tony Mancha will set aside for the scrapbook as Mancha threw a no-hitter in USA Men’s National Team’s 10-0 victory over Dominican Republic.
No Dominican Republic batter was able to locate Mancha’s pitches during the game. Mancha threw a no-hitter, striking out eight batters and walking one while recording his momentous feat. He got Jose Bueno to ground out for the final out of the game.
The biggest inning for USA Men’s National Team was the sixth. Dominican Republic had no answer as USA Men’s National Team scored six runs. USA Men’s National Team scored in the sixth on an RBI single by Derrick Zechman, an RBI single by Matt Palazzo, a passed ball, and a three-run triple by Marcus Tan.
Tan racked up three RBIs on one hit for USA Men’s National Team.
Yennier Volquez ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
USA Men’s National Team never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring one run on a sacrifice fly by Josh Johnson.
USA Men’s National Team tacked on another two runs in the fifth. The inning got off to a hot start when Chase Turner singled.
