On the final day of competition at Toronto 2015, Canada’s women’s softball team beat the USA 4-2 to win the gold medal.
After seven innings of play (the regulation length of a softball game), the score was still locked at 0-0. That meant extra innings would be needed to determine the gold medallist.
Sara Groenewegen pitched a complete game to lead Canada to the TO2015 gold medal on Day 16.

Canada came out gunning in the top of the 8th, scoring four runs to take the lead. The USA tried to make it interesting in the bottom of the inning, scoring two runs to cut it to 4-2. However, they were unable to do much more than that, handing the Canadians the 4-2 win and the gold medal. Click here to continue reading.
