For decades men’s fast-pitch softball was a staple of summer in mid-Michigan.
From the 1950s through the 1990s some of the best teams in the state came from this area and then around the turn of the millennium it up and disappeared.
Mt. Pleasant’s Josh Wheaton wants to bring it back though, thus he’s looking to see if there is any interest in starting up a new league starting in August.
“We’re trying to start up a new men’s fast-pitch softball,” said Wheaton. “It used to be big here and it kind of fizzled away so we’re trying to garner interest. All we need it for people to call me at 989-621-3449 and I’ll take your name and number down. It’s for anybody over the age of 18. I was going to do 35 and older but we need to get young people involved because everybody is going from high school to slo-pitch so we want to catch them now.”
