Editor’s note: Our good friend Jim Williamson (JRW) is convalescing after having open heart surgery this past Tuesday, July 28. He is convalescing.
For those who may not know Jim, he was one of the founders of the North American Fastpitch Association (NAFA) and a longtime coach, sponsor and ambassador for the game. He’s in Yakima Washington, but know to many across North America and beyond. His skills as a scorekeeper, scorekeeping instructor and “bracketeer” are second to none. The up-to-date bracket for last summer’s ISC World Tournament kept at Fastpitch West? JRW’s handiwork. In most cases, he was updating the results as the final out was being made.
We wish him a speedy recovery.

Last update on JRW for awhile. He is doing well RN’s say his health is good. Had solid food tonight. Don’t know if he ate it. Medicines are being changed to pill form. Looks pretty good. Can have a few visitors this weekend. Probably Sunday best. I will be at the Seattle Invite with Interbay if you see me and have questions that I can answer I will. He is still not using phone.

As some of you know Jim has been having heart problems. Today he underwent open heart surgery. He had 4 way bypass and mitre valve repair, At this time he is resting comfortably at Regional hospital here in Yakima. He did have some fluid build up this afternoon and the Dr. had to take him back into the OR and check to see if he had a bleed. He did not. He still has breathing tube that they hope to remove tonight. He is at this time not receiving calls as he can not talk and is not receiving visitors. We will know more on his condition tomorrow and I will update as I know information.
